Established in 2008 as the institutes first club, the finance club has progressively evolved into a strong platform for building a long standing and mutually beneficial relationship between the corporates and the student community. The principal activities of the club are to publish the magazine – Niveshak, organize finance knowledge session, conduct events and manage the Niveshak Investment Fund (NIF). NIF is a diversified equity portfolio that aims for growth, through a focused and optimally diversified portfolio strategy, the fund aims to optimize the risk adjusted return by building a portfolio of large and mid-cap stocks across sectors, selected as per a sector choice methodology developed by the members of the club.
The club organizes various events like FinDrishti, Dalal Street, ComTrade and FinManch to facilitate learning for students in the domain of finance and economics. In association with ICICI Direct the club also conducts a virtual trading contest – StockMind, which encourages the students to learn the nuances of the stock market. The club also partners with various online training academies, to encourage students in grooming their finance knowledge by registering for finance certification courses, such as FLIP challenge, FinSiksha and White Knight Ventures.
Our achievements for the year include emerging as national winners for the Yes Bank Transformation series 2016, emerging as national winners of the Stock Maniac competition held by IIM Ahmedabad, securing multiple ranks among the top 100 in exams held by FLIP among many more.
The club members actively organize regular knowledge sharing sessions, where the trending topics will be discussed to keep the batch abreast with the current affairs in the world of finance.
Every year, Niveshak in partnership with ICICI organize StockMind, the national challenge of making the most amount of money on the live stock markets of India. Participants are granted access to the trading platform of ICICI which mimics an actual ICICI Direct trading account. Ten crore of start-up virtual cash and fourteen days are given to participants to make the most of the money. Go long or sell short, participants place their bets keeping in mind the current economic scenario and predicted news events.
This is a simulation of the real world stock market for the students in campus. Our participants act as traders who try and make money trading a set of stocks on a virtual platform built in-house. Prices move based on live trading on quantities traded with live news acting as externalities on the strategies adopted by the traders.
Our nationwide search for the smartest investor. The challenge is multi-staged which first begins with an online quiz and moves onto stock picks and research reports. Every year, the hunt is bigger and tougher keeping in line with latest market dynamics.

In pursuit of learning and sharing knowledge on investing and analysing the stock markets, making the best of market research tools available and getting substantial insights from the operations perspective, we organize a session on using the Bloomberg Terminal in collaboration with Bloomberg.
The session will throw light on the diverse uses of Bloomberg terminals in the different functional domains of management, covering Finance, Marketing and Operations. The Bloomberg Professional would elucidate the opportunities that the Bloomberg terminal will open up for a B School graduate and how it plays a crucial role in career progression for not only finance enthusiasts but for everyone pursuing management - seeking specialization across domains from marketing to consulting to operations.

The editorial team of the club bears upon itself the tough task of shortlisting, analysing and editing the articles received to be published in the magazine. Having a nationwide readership, the team ensures articles of top quality on important issues are printed that give investors not just information, but insights from students prospecting to become leading investors themselves. In addition to articles, the editorial team highlights some recent events which have created a spark in the financial markets, interviews with investment bankers and stock analysts from leading enterprises and highlighting lessons learn from historical events in addition to articles by students.
